This my first post. If you’re reading this, I got you to click the headline.

I’m so clever. Yay me!

But enough about me. This site isn’t really about me at all. It’s about finding business solutions for you.

Let’s talk about email. This topic is really big.

“The cash is in the list” is something of a holy mantra among direct marketers. The sentiment is mighty truthy, doncha think?

Well, yes. And no.

An email list can be a very valuable asset to your business, especially if you have quality leads and double opt-ins.

Sometimes having an email list doesn’t pan out as a truly effective marketing tool.

If this sounds like you, you’re doing it wrong.

Let’s put our thinking caps on and take a look at the problem.

First, I will assume you don’t spam. Your customers’ sentiment is “You’re not spamming me, brother. Tell me how your product can make me beautiful, rich and horny as a toad.”

Yep, that’s the spirit.

These subscribers are folks who expressed a confirmed interest in your company. They want you to sell them something.

And people want to buy themselves things. Everyone wants to be rich, beautiful and horny as a toad. People love to feel pampered and good about themselves.

Are you up to it?

Of course you are. You covet that list of valuable leads. You’re busy as a little bee, pushing those emails out today, and tomorrow, and the next day.

But few people are opening them.

What? Why is this happening?

Perhaps you used terms that got the emails flagged and caught in a spam filter.

Maybe it was the ho-hum effect. The headline was dull.

And your problems don’t end there.

Once opened, maybe your CTR (Click Through Rate) was very poor.

Even worse, your list peeps turn on you and unsubscribe from your missives.

Oh, noes! What to do?

Backtrack and deconstruct what you’re doing. The first thing to examine is your headlines.

Stats: Only 8 out of 10 people will read the subject line. Approximately 2 out of 10 will read the email.

People are distracted. They’re busy living their own lives. Not yours.

Their in-boxes are cluttered with competing emails promising shiny things.

You have to stand out.

Be bold.

The Internet is not a place for a wallflower. You must take chances and make your subject lines irresistible and clickable.

It’s not hard. Here are a few examples:

“50% Off Accessories TODAY ONLY”
“Free Colon Cleanse With All Garcinia Orders”
“Free Shipping, No Minimum”

And so on.

As you can see, selling can be fun and engaging for you and your customers.

This really works.

When you entice your customers in a clear and compelling manner, they’ll open more of your emails. Listen to what your customers want.

And give it to them.
